He is one of the most familiar faces of esport. For nearly 20 years, Paul “ReDeYe” Chaloner continues to practice his job with passion. Let’s meet Paul.
During our trip to the Gamescom, we had the opportunity to discuss with one of the historical figures of esport. Paul Chaloner belongs to the ones who contributed to make of video game the entertainment we know today. No rest for the esport’s voice. A few days before, he was showcasing the biggest tournament of the year: The International. The day we met him, he was hosting the Championship of the European Heroes of the Storm.
Aged of 44 years old, he is regarded as the elder of esport. Paul even wrote a book, “Talking Esports”, where he shares his views and advices on how to comment a match. This book, available free of charge, has been downloaded more than 40.000 times! As he worked at the CGS, the ESL or Gfinity, his experience is valuable and makes him a trusted man. Today, Paul works as a freelance sportscaster and also as a consultant.
Between two matches, ReDeYe has accepted to confide in us. We wished to better know the guy. After all these years, how to keep the flame alive? What is the down side if any?
