He leads one of the most prestigious clubs of US. Whatever the field, his teams are in the top of the world. Meet Mike Rufail a.k.a “Hastr0”, founder and director of Team EnvyUs.
After a carrier as a professional player on Call of Duty, Mike starts the Envy adventure in 2007. In a few years only, EnvyUs has become a reference. The team performs on all fronts; it takes part to the American Championship of League of Legends and owns one of the 10 best teams of the World on Counter Strike. On Overwatch, the team has installed its dominance on the American continent with a record of 57 consecutive wins in official matches. Finally, on Call of Duty, the “boys in blue” have just won the World Championship.
During the course of the interview, we wanted to ask him what are the ingredients for such a success. Whilst the debate is raging as regards the organisation of the contests and the set up of a franchised system, we wanted to get Mike’s opinions. This was aimed, also, to understand what could be the benefits of an organisation like the World Esport Association (WESA). Interview:

SmartCast’s eye: For sure, according to Mike, your business acumen is a key element to build a successful and competitive team! In which concerns the building of a franchised system, Mike thinks that it is very important to be able to migrate to this kind of system. The EnvyUs’ CEO considers that it is essential to protect the players, the clubs and even the whole ecosystem.
Lastly, Mike Rufail explains that, in their future development, the teams will try to build their own facilities. He says us that the club plans to build its own stadium in order to be able to welcome the fans.
